In the past three years, nearly 1,100 homeless individuals have died in San Francisco, many of them remaining unclaimed. Reuben Houston, funeral director of Colma Funeral Service, retrieves their unclaimed ashes and honors them with a ceremonial water burial. Meanwhile, Carmen Barsody, founder of Faithful Fools, works to preserve the stories of the unhoused community in the Tenderloin, ensuring that their lives and struggles are not forgotten.
