The hidden kinship (2022)
Young children are snatched and hidden by one parent, enduring prolonged separation from their loved ones. Some fight in court to regain custody, while others, despite having legal custody, struggle to bring their children home.
The Hidden Kinship is an investigative journey into the lives of five courageous mothers and father battling a broken court system across China to reclaim children abducted taken from them during divorce process. Exposing the legal loopholes in China’s Civil Code and Minor Protection Law, the film uncovers how these gaps allow parents to abduct and hide children without consequence—an affliction impacting 80,000 children in China.
This documentary film is a finalist for the Best Short Documentary at the 13th China Academy Awards of Documentary Film.
