Bostonian, Get Ready For A New Prado

On Apr. 03, the construction workers arrive early in the morning to load bricks and work on the Paul Revere Mall renovation. Meanwhile, children from the neighboring The Eliot School play and laugh on the playground next to the construction site.

Paul Revere Mall, known also as "The Prado", is established in 1925. On last year's July, the city government officially announced a $2.9 million renovation plan for the Paul Revere Mall. The renovation includes new brick paving, fountain restoration, site lighting, tree pruning, and planting of new trees.

Paul Revere, a hero of the American Revolution, is commemorated by visitors and residents through his standing statue. The view of the mall from Hanover Street, with the Paul Revere statue in the foreground and the Old North Church in the background, has attracted thousands of visitors since 1925. According to the Boston Globe, Paul Revere Mall is one of the most photographed sites along the Freedom Trail.

On the construction site, several workers knee down on the ground to pave red bricks in the cold air. Some go under the ground to install electric wiring system for the empty fountain. The mall looks run-down at this moment. Once the renovation finishes, it would become a freshly decorated space for people to relax in.

Visitors who went to the Mall and found it is in construction, have left hundred of comments on TripAdvisor and Yelp, wishing the construction can be over soon so they can enjoy the iconic park view.

A user of TripAdvisor comments: "We were disappointed with the amount of construction around this historic site but we also understand the need. The historical significance is worth the visit even with the construction."

The mall looks run-down at this moment. Once the renovation is finished, the visitors and residents can enjoy their leisure time strolling under the tree shades and chatting with each other by the iconic statue and the pouring fountain.

Stay tuned and wait for the coming of the new Prado.
